The Head of the National Confidential Forum has welcomed the call for views on the Redress for Survivors by the Scottish Government's Parliamentary Committee.

Forum Head Jayne Laidlaw said: “On behalf of the many participants who have shared their experiences of institutional care with the Forum, we are pleased that the Redress Bill will now be considered through the formal parliamentary process which applies to all draft legislation in Scotland.

“Survivors and other stakeholders are being encouraged to express their opinions on the Bill to the Parliament’s Education and Skills Committee by making a submission by the 2nd of October.

“The introduction of the Redress Bill is testimony to the commitment of Scottish Government to do the right thing by people who experienced abuse or neglect in institutional care settings and we look forward to seeing the Redress Scheme being established in due course.”
